At Archbishop Tensions school we see are ourselves as an integral part of the local community. As a school we take an active role in participating in a wide range of community work. This has included Year 7 students taking part in the ‘Big Tidy Up’, the annual carol singing at the Oval Tube station, and the school band performing in the summer event at Kennington Park.
Due to the high academic standards of both our students and teachers, we take an active role within the school cluster partnership with local primary schools. In the past this has involved Primary school pupils attending specialist lessons on site as well as receiving specialist teaching in their own school.
Last year the maths department took part in a project with Henry Fawcett School to provide specialist maths teachers to teach booster classes aimed at their Level 6 pupils. A similar project is planned with St. Mark's Church of England primary school.
Our close links with Archbishop Sumner has resulted in our own students taking part in American Football training with teams from the NFL.
The PE department also linked with Ashmole School to enable students in years 9–11 to coach their pupils so they could be achieve their sports leader’s awards.
Homework Club at Archbishop Tenison School
Homework Club is for children aged 5–11 yrs and works with local primary schools and families to provide after school activities, which enable parents/carers to work or study. We assist the children with homework completion, literacy, numeracy and ICT, as well as sports, games, arts and lots of fun.
Homework Club is Ofsted registered and all staff are trained and CRB checked.
Archbishop Tenison School enables Homework Club to continue running the service in the required area. Archbishop Tenison is central to all the schools Homework Club work, alongside the staff who are very accommodating to the children who attend Homework Club and very supportive of the project. Archbishop Tenison also welcomes us during Easter and Summer holidays to run our play schemes.
