Sixth Form information

“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind”

Archbishop Tenison’s Sixth Form believes that every young person matters and deserves success.  We have a growing sixth form and a new build with up-to-date facilities and an experienced team of teachers who will help you throughout your sixth form education.

All sixth formers are expected to be smartly dressed.   High standards of attendance, punctuality and commitment to work are also expected of all students.

Business and university links

All students who join our sixth form receive a laptop and many receive 6th form bursaries and some university bursaries.  All these are supplied by the Livery Companies of the Dyers, Chartered Surveyors and Cutlers as well as the Surrey Cricket Club, the Walcot Foundation and Amos.

Students are supported in the application process for university through constant links with Into University and dedicated days to focus on applications and personal statements.  Links with Cambridge, in particular with St John’s College, Oxford, Kings College, LSBU and Camberwell Art College are strong.  We have opportunities for students who wish to study a variety of programmes from medicine to law to fashion.

For our Art students there are endless opportunities including strong links with the Tate Modern and a history of boys gaining places at Camberwell Art College.  The Art Department will also support students who want to study architecture.

We have growing links with Lion Heart who support young people in their future choices and give students the opportunity to study for apprenticeships.

We also have fantastic links with Into University who have given us a wealth of opportunities including a day at UCL, a day at the University of Sussex, mentoring schemes, corporate mentoring schemes, a place to study after school and some work experience placements.  They also offer additional programmes such as those for students who want to do medicine.  Through our links with LSBU students can sign up for a student card which ensures that they have free access to the library, the opportunity to do private study and the opportunity to hire ICT equipment and use the university gym at reduced prices.

We have a head boy and a head girl, as well as an extended team who work closely with the Head of Sixth Form and liaise with the Headmistress on a regular basis.  We also have a creative team who produce our monthly newsletter.

Access to religious education comes through two assemblies a week, as well as through the critical thinking programme.  We work closely with our school chaplain and offer AS and A2 level Religious Studies.

There a large numbers of trips organised throughout the year some being subject specific but also  for general enrichment as well as purely social.

If you are interested in applying then please contact the school and ask for either:

Sally Skelly in the main office or Natasha Fox, the Head of Sixth Form.
